SBPD Officer Injured in Accidental Shooting

An Sturgeon Bay Police Officer was injured in an accidental shooting Monday morning at a home on the west side of the city. Captain Dan Brinkman says both of the officers involved are department veterans. Captain Brinkman said the officers involved decided to affect an arrest when the suspect became uncooperative…

Brinkman said the 26-year old suspect was taken to the Door County Jail. He said charges related to the incident are anticipated. Following standard procedure, the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation has been called on to investigate the accidental shooting. The injured officer was treated and released. Brinkman indicated that the names of the parties involved in the incident are expected to be released in the future.
