Last week, Sturgeon Bay Police were able to diffuse what could have been a volatile situation involving a distraught man holding a knife while laying on the ground in one lane of the Maple/Oregon Street Bridge. Officers on patrol came upon the 21-year old man in the lane of travel and noticed that he was holding a knife in the direction of his chest. The man was ordered to place the knife on the ground. After a few minutes, he released his grip and complied, putting the blade on the ground nearby. The man was taken into custody without incident and transported to Ministry Door County Medical Center for treatment.
