Road Stop Leads to Drug Arrest in Northern Door County

A traffic stop last week near Sister Bay led to the arrest two individuals on drug-related charges. According to Door County Sheriff Steve Delarwelle, a vehicle, driven by a 39-year old woman, was seen weaving all over the road. The Baileys Harbor Town Constable made the arrest and the woman was taken into custody on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while drug impaired. The vehicle was searched and authorities discovered a lock box containing syringes, needles and 36 individually wrapped packages of the drug fentanyl. Sheriff Delarwelle says fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine and is many more times potent than heroin. The recovery of the drugs led to the arrest of the 39-year old passenger who was identified as the owner of the vehicle. The man and woman were booked and jailed at the Door County Justice Center.
