Ridges Working With Major Universities to Protect Orchids

Over the years, the environmental preserve located near Baileys Harbor has embarked on major capital campaigns to enhance its programming, the latest being the construction of a new interpretive center. On Wednesday, a group from the Smithsonian Institution will be visiting the sanctuary as part of the creation of a North American orchid conservation center. The group’s expertise is being tapped into in an effort to continue propagating the dozens of flowers that make up the orchid population in Door County.
