Public Invited to Archeological Dig at Crossroads

A section of Crossroads at Big Creek will again be turned into an archaeological dig this week as the young and old are invited to try to find evidence of the past residents who walked the land. Coggin Heeringa, director at the Sturgeon Bay environmental preserve, says the amateur archaeologists will be sifting sand at Big Creek Cove Preserve. Heeringa says students will be at the site on Thursday and Friday…

Heeringa says the site is the third segment of Crossroads deemed a likely spot for finding artifacts…

Those who like to get their hands dirty looking for pieces of pottery, arrow heads and the like are asked to meet at the parking lot at the intersection of Utah Street and 20th Place Thursday or Friday afternoon. Please pre-register by email at coggin.heeringa@yahoo.com
