The Department of Natural Resources is indicating that it is planning to permanently close and dismantle the tower at Door County’s Potawatomi State Park. The state agency says decay of structural and non-structural elements of the tower has led to significant deterioration. The DNR says the plan is to close the tower and take it apart because repair is not an option. No timeline for the deconstruction of the 75-foot tower is available. Over the years, the tower has been a favorite of locals and visitors because of its panoramic view of Sawyer Harbor.
