On Wednesday, Sturgeon Bay Police officers were dispatched to an east side home to follow up on a suspicious phone call. The occupant said she had just gotten off the phone with a male caller who said he was seeking donations for the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department and the Door County fire department. The local woman hung up after informing the caller that she wouldn’t be donating anything because she thought the call was a scam. And it appears that she was right. A check of the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department indicated that no donations are being sought at this time and the department never contacts people by phone when it is fundraising. The Sturgeon Bay Police Department says residents who have questions about suspicious calls, mail or other incidents should not hesitate to call the department at (920)746-2450.
