Petersilka Named President of Wisconsin Register of Deeds Association

The new president of the Wisconsin Register of Deeds Association is Carey Petersilka, Door County Register of Deeds. As such, she becomes the first Door County resident to serve in this capacity. Her term as president of the association runs for a year. As president, Petersilka represents the 72 member organization and ensures that all provisions of its constitution and by-laws are strictly enforced, that all resolutions and orders adopted by the organization at its meetings are promptly executed, and is charged with maintaining general supervising control over the association’s affairs. In addition, she presides at meetings and conferences. Prior to being elected President of the Wisconsin Register of Deeds Association, Petersilka was first vice-president and legislative co-chairperson. She has been Door County Register of Deeds since 2005, overseeing an office that handles more than $780,000 in real estate transfer fees, manages a $440,000 budget, and keeps track of real estate related documents and vital records such as birth, death, domestic partnership and marriage records. Petersilka has been appointed to several committees within the WRDA, has served on the Wisconsin County Constitutional Officer’s Board, and is a member of the Wisconsin Counties and Land Information Associations.
