Peninsula Pride Farms Offers Clean Water for Those With Contaminated Wells

Peninsula Pride Farms, a group of 43 farmers in Kewaunee and southern Door Counties has announced that it has developed a program called Water Well, to provide free clean water, private well assistance, and help cover costs of a water treatment system to those in the area whose wells have tested positive for e-coli contamination. The water well program will work in conjunction with existing county and state programs for water testing and possible financial assistance, and is funded by Peninsula Pride member dues, support from businesses, and a state grant. The announcement has been praised by the Department of Natural Resources, which recently recommended local groups help in developing solutions to protect well owners.
