Wednesday was the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly expanded beach area at Sturgeon Bay’s Otumba Park. With last summer’s record high lake levels and shoreline damaging storms, the city had a problem to solve with the shoreline, and as Council President Dan Williams says, they used the opportunity to create something better…..
Then, 5th District Alderman Gary Nault shared some memories of growing up just a few blocks from this park and all the fun activities that west side children enjoy there. Alderman Nault thanked everyone involved with the expansion project, and he also thanked the Otumba Park neighbors…..
Sturgeon Bay Mayor Dave Ward again thanked all involved in the project, including Stephanie Birmingham for her work towards the addition of Door County’s first beach “moby mat”, a special mat across the beach to increase accessibility to the water……
Mayor Ward then used the “big scissors” for the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, and a special beach-style lunch of hot dogs and chips was served to those in attendance to celebrate the new improved beach project.
