The Northern Sky Theater announced that it has completed the purchase of a 17-acre parcel of land on the southeast corner of County Roads A and F in Fish Creek where the plan is to build a rehearsal and operations center. The purchase was made possible by way of a generous capital campaign gift from Michael J. and Marge McCoy. Mike McCoy is a Northern Sky board-member and member of the board’s finance committee. McCoy formerly was Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of Hormel Foods Corporation and is currently Chairman of the Board of Regents at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. In June of this year, Northern Sky was granted a rezoning amendment allowing it to move forward with the purchase of the property from Stella Maris Parish. While the company will continue to perform its summer season at Peninsula State Park, the project aims to improve its ability to create, produce and support all aspects of the organization that happen behind the scenes. Northern Sky currently operates from a host of rented facilities spread all over northern Door County. Its business office is in Ephraim, shop and costume space are located in Baileys Harbor, rehearsal space is in Egg Harbor, and, storage space is rented in Fish Creek.
