New Sturgeon Bay Fire Chief Selected

Sturgeon Bay Fire Chief Tim Herlache has a ways to go before he joins the ranks of the retired, but he knows that the transition to a new chief will be a smooth one. Herlache told WDOR News Friday that his replacement will be Assistant Chief Tim Dietman. Dietman’s selection by Sturgeon Bay’s Fire and Police Commission was made after a thorough review of the operations, and staff of the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department. Commission President Michael Van Dyke said the commission is confident that Chief Dietman will continue to hold the department to the same high standards as Chief Herlache has and is prepared to lead the department into the future. Assistant Chief Dietman’s elevation to chief came on a unanimous vote of the fire and police commission. Chief Herlache said he was pleased with the selection of Dietman as fire chief and said his leadership skills will be a great fit for the department and the community. Herlache, who retires as of January 3rd, said he’s confident that the department will be in good hands.
