New Partner for Door County Canine Unit

When a police dog doesn’t get along with its handler, it’s probably time to get a new dog. Deputy Matt Tassoul of the Door County Sheriff’s Department has returned from canine unit training with a new partner, “Odinn.” His former dog, a German Shepherd, was known to snap and snarl and attempt to take a bite out of the deputy. He and “Odinn” have a much more amicable relationship. The two are currently working to become certified for drug interdiction and are about halfway through the training program. The hope is to have that work completed by the end of the year and for “Odinn” to begin doing his thing in January. The cost of the canine unit has been covered by donations made to a foundation set up for the Door County Sheriff’s Department.
