A superintendent to oversee the operation of the Door County Parks system has been hired. He is Ben Nelson and will begin his new duties on Monday. Recently, the Parks and Building and Grounds Departments were merged to become the Door County Facilities and Parks Department. With the restructure, the county parks system becomes a division of the Facilities and Parks Department under the direction of Wayne Spritka. Nelson is a graduate of UW/Green Bay, earning a bachelor’s degree in biology. He obtained a masters degree in organizational leadership and administration from Concordia University. Nelson has a strong background in natural resources and is excited to be joining the Door County team. The Door County Parks division will be under the oversight of a committee which will consist of seven members appointed by the county board chairman.
