Bids on a proposed renovation project for the former Door County Highway Shop off 14th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay are expected to be available Thursday. The Door County Board is considering using the large building as the new home for the Door County ambulance garage and its crew quarters, the Senior Resource Center, and the offices of the Aging and Disability Resource Center. Early indications are that multiple contractors will bid on the multi-million dollar renovation project at the more than 80-year old structure. The information provided could lead to a recommendation on a future course of action. The recommendation is expected to be provided by the county’s finance and property committees when supervisors meet on June 24th.
