Missing Forestville Man Found

The Door County Sheriff’s Office has cleared a missing person report filed Sunday evening. Fifty one year old Timothy Wessel was located in the Village of Forestville after having been missing for 24 hours. Chief Deputy Pat McCarty says deputies were initially dispatched at 7:35PM Sunday and searched the area through the night. Search efforts intensified Monday morning with coordinated land, water and air searches.
The Southern Door Fire Department organized the ground searches which involved fire department members and about 100 volunteers. They searched the entire Village of Forestville and then expanded their effort into the Town of Forestville and northern Kewaunee County. DNR wardens concentrated their operation on the waters and marshy areas near the Ahnapee River. They were assisted by a DNR aircraft based in Rhinelander. The Door County Sheriff’s Department K9 unit searched the Ahnapee Trail and rural areas of the town. In addition, Door County Emergency Services, the Door County Emergency Manager, the Civil Air Patrol, Southern Door EMRs, and the Red Cross assisted with the operation.
Timothy Wessel was taken to Door County Medical Center for a precautionary checkup after having been out in the elements for 24 hours. The Door County Sheriff’s Office expressed appreciation to all of the members of the community who came and assisted with the search.
