Motorists are being advised that the Michigan Street Bridge in Sturgeon Bay is expected to be shut down for three hours Thursday morning. The Department of Transportation says the structure will be closed to all traffic from 9AM to noon for measurements of bridge components. The measurements are to assist bridge engineers with dimensions for bridge beams damaged in a vehicle strike. Measurements necessary to replace the beams will then be used to manufacture replacement parts. A backhoe being towed buy a semi-truck struck and damaged multiple overhead support beams on April 22nd. A timeline for repairs is not yet available. Drivers can use the Maple/Oregon Street Bridge to cross Sturgeon Bay Thursday morning.
