Maritime Tower Project Reaching New Heights

towerThe Door County Maritime Museum is showcasing its plans to build a large observation tower with an exhibit at the museum facility on Sturgeon Bay’s west side waterfront. The fundraising campaign entitled, “Reaching New heights in our Maritime Heritage,” is intended to produce an addition that will promote northeast Wisconsin’s shipbuilders and marine-related businesses as well as the world’s most extensive navigable waterways system. The additional space will not only provide an observation platform for the community’s stunning harbor, but will also house an array of state-of-the-art exhibits for all ages. In addition, visitors will have a simulated lighthouse experience by climbing the spiral staircase to the 11th floor beacon enclosure and open observation deck. Anyone interested in supporting the Door County Maritime Museum’s tower campaign is invited to contact Executive Director Rick O’Farrell at 743-5958.
