Maritime Museum Awarded Marketing Grant for New Exhibit

The Door County Maritime Museum has received a joint effort marketing grant from the the Wisconsin Department of Tourism. The museum based in Sturgeon Bay has received $39,550 to be used for advertising and marketing the exhibit “The Shipwrecks of Door County,” which will highlight the significant maritime history of northeast Wisconsin and is projected to have an economic impact of $1.7 million dollars to the region. The interactive exhibit opens in mid-May and is expected to run through the middle part of September this year. State Representative Joel Kitchens thanked the state department of tourism for recognizing the value of the local project and noted that the Door County Maritime Museum is a cornerstone of the region’s tourism.
