A 61 year old Manitowoc man has been pronounced dead after an accident Friday morning. The Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department responded to the call of a one vehicle crash at 7:56AM on Highway 42, north of County J, in the Town of Carlton. Investigators determined that the man, driving a black Jeep Grand Cherokee had been northbound on 42 when he crossed the centerline, left the roadway and entered the west ditch, where he struck a driveway embankment. The vehicle then became airborne, rolled over and came to rest against a power pole guy wire, 460 feet from where it left the roadway. The driver was cut from his seatbelt and removed from the vehicle. CPR was started at the scene and the man was transported to a Green Bay medical facility, where he later died. The investigation into the crash is ongoing and neither alcohol or speed was believed to have been a factor. Kewaunee Ambulance, Carlton Fire Department & First Responders were dispatched to the scene along with Sheriff’s Deputies.
