At about 10:30 Friday evening, a 38 year-old Nasewaupee man was westbound on Eliason Road, when he continued off the end of the roadway, through the sand beach, and into Sand Bay where it came to rest in about 3 feet of water approximately 40 feet from the shoreline. The driver then fled the scene and did not report the incident. Just before 7:30 Saturday morning an emergency call was made regarding the vehicle out in the water. The Sheriff’s Department crash report says that alcohol use was suspected, but no test was given. He was given citations for failure to notify police of an accident, inattentive driving, failure to keep his vehicle under control, and unreasonable and imprudent speed.
