Local Medical Response to Coronavirus

Wednesday morning on the WDOR Talk Show, Eddy Allen spoke with Dr. James Heise, chief medical officer at Door County Medical Center, about the local medical response toCOVID coronavirus. For the last few weeks the medical center has been working hard to prepare for the eventuality related to the virus. So far, Door and Kewaunee counties have no confirmed cases of the virus, but a new system is in place for local COVID-19 testing. Dr. Heise explains…

After a sample is taken, it is then sent off to Madison for hospitalized cases, or to a commercial lab for cases less severe. If you fear you might have been exposed, Dr. Heise says the big indicator of being infected is a fever, then also a cough.

As for preventative measures to protect yourself from the virus, he strongly recommends social distancing…
