Local Boys Recognized for Honesty

It’s the kind of story that restores your faith in young people. It happened at Joe’s Hair Trimming Center in downtown Sturgeon Bay last week. The Reetz brothers, Haydon and Hatcher, went to Joe’s to get haircuts. Older brother Haydon picks up the story…

Door County Sheriff Steve Delarwelle said he heard from a customer who was so impressed with the boys actions that he wanted to reward them anonymously. Wednesday afternoon they returned to Joe’s and Sheriff Delarwelle gave each of them a crisp new $50 bill in recognition of their honesty. Haydon Reetz credited his parents, Brett and Laura Reetz, for instilling in them a sense of what it takes to do the right thing…

But the story doesn’t end there. When asked what he hoped to do with his $50, young Hatcher Reetz had this to say…

Also on hand for the special ceremony were Sturgeon Bay Police Chief Arleigh Porter, the media and, of course, Joe the barber.
