State Senator Frank Lasee says the Eagle Tower at Peninsula State Park near Fish Creek should be preserved for future generations. Lasee has scheduled a listening session for Monday afternoon at the old town hall in Fish Creek to gauge public opinion on the future of the 78 foot observation deck. In May, the Department of Natural Services closed down the Eagle Tower citing structural problems. While media reports have indicated that the state agency plans to take the tower down in the fall, Lasee says the DNR has not made a final decision on the structure’s ultimate fate. The first district Republican hopes the session at 12:30PM will provide a forum for people to express their opinions. He hopes to be joined at the town hall Monday by other legislators, representatives of the DNR and other stakeholders for input on the iconic structure.
