Land Trust Hopes to Save Sister Bay’s Pebble Beach

A cooperative agreement between the Door County Land Trust and the Village of Sister Bay hopes to save a 600-foot stretch of Door County shoreline and 17-acres of land in Sister Bay for future generations. The Land Trust’s Tom Clay says his organization will assist in the purchase of the property with fundraising and a conservation agreement, and the village will own and manage the parcel with public access to the shoreline and land, which will be protected as a natural area…

While the acquisition process for the Pebble Beach parcel has been set in motion, there’s still a ways to go before the property changes hands. Clay talked about the funding sources needed to pay for the property, beginning with a million dollar federal grant…

Clay says the Land Trust has a very small window of opportunity to meet its commitment as part of the proposed $2.5 million transaction…

The community is invited to make contributions of support for the project and to learn more at www.doorcountylandtrust.org/pebblebeach
