Jacksonport Polar Bear Plunge Friday

The annual polar bear swim in Jacksonport is Friday at noon. JR Jarosh, the original polar bear told WDOR that it all started when he lost a bet with his father, that was in October 1984 and it moved to January first in 1986…

The swim is open to anybody who is willing to jump into Lake Michigan, but those doing it are asked to sign a waiver release which is available at Lakeside Park or for those wanting it in advance go to www.jacksonportpolarbearclub.com, fill it out and bring it with you to the park.
Those joining the swim or just coming to watch may bring some non-perishable food to donate to Feed My People. There will be polar bear items for sale, things like shirts, hoodies and pins. All proceeds go to the Jacksonport Fire Department which has been on hand for many years providing security and assistance to those who may need it.
