J-Turn Complete in Brussels

jturnThe Wisconsin Department of Transportation has announced that a new J turn, at the intersection of Highway 57 and County C in southern Door County, opens Saturday. Construction began on September 14th. The J turn does not allow left turn through movements from County C. Instead, drivers on County C have to first turn right then make a u-turn about one-third mile down the road from the original intersection. A number of crashes at County C and the highway prompted the DOT to install the turning area. The state agency says the Federal Highway Administration has found that J turns can reduce intersection crashes by 28-44%.
