A recent assessment on the future of the observation tower in Potawatomi State Park will be the subject of an informational meeting on Tuesday, May 14th at 6PM. The session, hosted by the Sturgeon Bay Historical Society features a presentation by Doctor Dan Tingley, a Senior Wood Technology/Structural Engineer at Wood Research and Development, will explain the results of his assessment of the tower built in 1931. The Department of Natural Resources says the structure is unstable and should be dismantled. But Doctor Tingley believes there are alternatives to taking the 75-foot structure down and those options could be accomplished without having to invest the kind of money needed to build a replacement tower. The meeting on an assessment of the Potawatomi Observation Tower, on Tuesday May 14th, will be held at 6PM at the Door County Community Foundation in downtown Sturgeon Bay.
