As anticipated, the name of the Door County Humane Society will change to reflect its affiliation with the Wisconsin Humane Society. The local organization and its animal shelter will now be referred to as Wisconsin Humane Society Door County Campus. Ann Reed, Wisconsin Humane Society President and CEO, says a consistent name is necessary to brand recognition. Reed says the more people recognize that the Wisconsin Humane Society is the organization responsible for improving the welfare of animals in their community and Wisconsin, the more they will support the work done locally. It’s expected to take weeks to update marketing efforts, the website, signs and forms. In order to save on expenses, the state humane society plans to hold off on reordering merchandise and marketing materials until there is a need to do so.
