Persistent gusty winds caused a series of electrical disruptions for some Door County customers of Wisconsin Public Service Corporation Tuesday. At one time, the utility based in Green Bay reported that 411 customers in its Sturgeon Bay service area were without power. Another 88 in the Ellison Bay area were affected and 21 near Fish Creek were waiting for service to be restored. There also was an unconfirmed report that a wind gust hit 57 miles per hour on Washington Island and authorities in Green Bay issued a wind advisory for the Leo Frigo Bridge. Drivers there were told to seek alternate routes or slow to 45 miles per hour when crossing the span. Motorists with high profile vehicles, such as recreational vehicles or semi trucks and trailers, were told to avoid the bridge altogether due to the high winds.
