A new Executive Director has been selected to run the day-to-day operations of Help of Door County. She is Milly Gonzales, an advocate and Domestic Violence Coordinator for the organization based in Sturgeon Bay. A resident of southern Door County, Gonzales came to the area with her husband, Rudy, in search of a place where they could raise their children. That was 11 years ago. Prior to moving to Door County, Milly managed a transitional living program for a domestic violence agency in Illinois. In 2018, she was honored with the Ann Kok Social Justice Award, and this year was recognized as one of the 35 most powerful and influential Latino’s. Currently, Milly Gonzales is the Northeast Regional Director of Women’s March Wisconsin. She replaces Steve Vickman, who earlier this year announced his decision to retire.
