Hazardous Waste Collection Friday & Saturday

Door County his hosting a 2-day household hazardous waste collection event this Friday & Saturday, November 4th & 5th. If you have unwanted hazardous waste products stored as part of your agricultural business or residential home, these items can pose a significant threat to the environment if not disposed of properly. At these 2 different event locations they will dispose of them in an environmentally safe manner. Friday’s collection will be at the Sister Bay Fire Station on Mill Road from 3:30 to 5:30PM, and Saturday morning it will be at the Door County Highway Department location on S. Duluth Avenue from 8:00 to 10:00AM.
Everyone is urged to be careful when transporting your products to the collection. You are asked to keep all products in their original containers, do not mix products together, and make sure they are properly sealed to prevent leaks or spills. While dropping them off, you are asked to stay in your vehicle and put all items in your trunk or as close to the hatchback as possible.
Items accepted include aerosol cans, bug sprays, oven cleaners, non-automotive batteries, chemical fertilizer, rat poison, moth balls, old gasoline, paint thinner, antifreeze, transmission fluid, and brake fluid. Items not accepted include medical waste and biologicals, tires, radioactives, propane cylinders, explosives, car batteries, ammunition, or motor oil.
