Half Marathon & 5K Runs Bring Big Impact to Local Economy

With two weeks to go, the Door County Half Marathon and Nicolet bay 5K run are filled to capacity. More than 1,800 runners have signed up to compete in the half marathon and another 700 say they’re taking part in the Nicolet Bay 5K at Peninsula State Park near Fish Creek. Dubbed one of the best races in the midwest, the ninth annual event is also expected to provide significant dollars for the local economy on that weekend. In addition, this year’s race also features ten very special competitors from “My Team Triumphs,” a non-profit organization that pairs handicapped competitors with “angels” who push them in specialized wheelchairs to the finish line.
