A ceremonial ground breaking will celebrate the start of construction for the 41st home to be constructed by the volunteers of Door County Habitat for Humanity. The event is set for 4:30 on Wednesday, May 30th at 827 North 6th Place in Sturgeon Bay. The new home will be constructed in partnership with Amanda and Jacob Purdy and their children. Following the ceremonial start to the home build, volunteer crews will work on Tuesdays and Thursdays through the summer. The family works with the crew, with adults contributing 200 hours each to the Door County Habitat project. Once the home is completed, the family will purchase the home with a zero percent interest mortgage. Anyone interested in applying to be a Habitat for Humanity partner or volunteering on the build can come to the organization’s office at 410 North 12th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay, or call David or Megan at 743-2869.
