Gov. Evers Speaks at Travel & Tourism Breakfast

This week is the 39th annual National Travel and Tourism Week, and Tuesday morning was the annual Travel & Tourism Week Breakfast presented by Destination Door County at Sturgeon Bay’s Stone Harbor Resort. Just over 200 people were in attendance as the morning started with a mix & mingle session before being seated for breakfast. This was also the first such breakfast event for the DDC’s new CEO Julie Gilbert. This year’s recipients of the Carole Counard Scholarships were announced, and then there was a special entity agreement signing ceremony between the DDC and the Door County Tourism Zone. The crowd applauded as the governing document was signed by representatives from Destination Door County and the Tourism Zone Commission, as well as by Governor Tony Evers who was in attendance with Wisconsin Tourism Secretary-Designee Anne Sayers. While addressing the crowd, Gov. Evers shared good news concerning the state’s tourism industry………

The governor then listed some of the state’s efforts to help Door County businesses recover from the economic impact of the pandemic and how that support is helping local businesses and communities……….

Gov. Evers and Secretary-Designee Sayers were then on their way to La Crosse to further celebrate National Travel & Tourism Week there with a brief trolley tour of the city and a visit to the newly renovated La Crosse Center.
