Destination Door County Wins Innovation Award

Every year at the Wisconsin Governor’s Conference on Tourism, the state’s tourism industry honors 6 recipients with the governor’s tourism awards. Tuesday, during the governor’s conference dinner in Lake Geneva, Destination Door County was given the “Innovation Award” for implementing new strategies which positively impact the organization and it’s destination community. The program which earned this award was last year’s launching of the “Community Investment Fund” grant program which utilizes this area’s room tax dollars to fund projects enhancing the quality of life for residents, employees, and visitors to the Door Peninsula. Destination Door County President Julie Gilbert says this accolade reflects the organization’s dedication and creativity in its ongoing efforts to enhance the visitor experience while supporting the local community.
