Gas Line Break Tuesday in Sturgeon Bay

A natural gas line was severed in the area of 5th Avenue and Georgia Street in Sturgeon Bay Tuesday morning. The Sturgeon Bay Fire Department says a contractor cut the line around 6:45AM. Seven members of the fire department went door-to-door in the neighborhood to alert residents of the problem. A representative of Wisconsin Public Service also responded and saw to it that the break was repaired. While the gas leak was being attended to, vehicles were routed away from the neighborhood. Police and EMS units also stood by. The fire crew cleared the scene shortly after 8AM.
