An effort to raise $750,000 to be invested in the reconstruction of the Eagle Tower at Peninsula State Park is underway. The Eagle Tower Fund Committee is working in partnership with the Department of Natural Resources to plan for completion of the project. The popular 80-foot observation tower was closed down by the DNR last year due to concerns about its structural integrity. The local committee hopes to raise $50,000 by October 15th in order to contract with a selected architect to design the new site plan. Further details regarding fundraising efforts, as well as answers to frequently asked questions and updates can be found at www.eagletowerfund.com. The DNR has said deconstruction of the tower will begin on Monday, September 19th.
