Former Employee of Boys & Girls Club Arrested for Crimes Against Children

The Boys & Girls Club of Door County has informed parents and supporters that a former employee has been arrested and is being held for alleged crimes against children. The club received the information via the Sturgeon Bay Police Department. In a letter dated Friday, Brian Stezenski-Williams, Interim Executive Director of the organization based in Sturgeon Bay, notes that the individual worked part-time at the club’s after school and summer program from September of 2017 through August of 2018. Stezenski-Williams says the club has always maintained safety measures in its programming, staff training and daily procedures. That includes standard operating practices to enhance security within the building, including staffing ratios to provide safety for members at all times. In addition, before beginning work, all employees and volunteers must complete a thorough criminal background check which is repeated on an annual basis. Stezenski-Williams says, at this point, the Boys & Girls Club of Door County is working closely with investigators to help in any way it can.
