Florida Man Dies From Injuries Suffered in Accident Near Brussels

A Florida man who was injured in a two car crash last week in southern Door County died over the weekend. The Door County Sheriffs Department says 81-year old Van Roy Doxtator of Lake Mary, Florida was pronounced dead Saturday at a Green Bay hospital. On November 23rd, deputies were sent to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 57 and County H, in the Town of Brussels. Doxtator was attempting to cross the divided highway and failed to yield to oncoming traffic. He sustained life-threatening injuries and was trapped in his vehicle. The “jaws of life” was needed to extricate Doxtator from the car. Also injured in the crash was 21-year old Maggie Muckham of Sturgeon Bay who sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized. The Door County Sheriff’s Department crash team, the Brussels-Union-Gardner Fire Department, and Door County EMS all responded at the scene.
