First Phase of Maritime Tower Fundraising is Complete

The Door County Maritime Museum has announced that it has successfully finished the first phase of fundraising as part of its lighthouse tower expansion project. So far, more than $2.5 million has been raised. The overall project goal is $5.5 million. William Harder, Museum Board President, says the museum has been receiving feedback from individuals, organizations, foundations and professional maritime groups who are excited to be a part of the local effort. The new maritime lighthouse is intended to stand as a lasting tribute to the importance of the region’s rich maritime history and provide a unique and fun way to explore the waterfront with an impressive panoramic view. When weather permits, the 11th level on the structure will be open, providing a panoramic view of the port of Sturgeon Bay. To learn more about the project, visit the Door County Maritime Museum’s website at or call the museum at (920)743-5958.
