While the 1.6 mile stretch of Highway 42/57 in Sturgeon Bay was open on Friday, after having been closed since March for a major reconstruction project, that doesn’t mean that all of the work has been completed. According to the Department of Transportation, this week sidewalk will be installed in the medians at Utah and Alabama Streets. In addition, final pavement marking will be completed at those intersections before the week is over.
Apparently, there are a few bugs in the system of the Bayview Bridge in Sturgeon Bay after its long closure for a rehabilitation project. WDOR News has learned that the span was shut down multiple times over the weekend to deal with minor glitches, primarily having to do with a “sticky” barrier gate. Drivers were turned away Tuesday morning while a short term problem was being dealt with. Traffic was moving over the by-pass bridge by about 7:15 Tuesday morning.
