Feirer Named Crusader Against Invasive Species

Debra Feirer, a summer resident of Chambers Island, has received statewide recognition, the Crusader Award, for her leadership in fighting invasive specifies there. The Wisconsin Invasive Species Council will present awards to the winners during a special ceremony at 1PM on Thursday, June 9th at the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitors Center. Feirer, who lives in Green Leaf, Wisconsin, has led the island’s effort to combat invasive species for a decade. Her efforts to mobilize the approximately 50 families with cabins on Chambers Island has had a profound impact on maintaining its unique and pristine environment. Debra Feirer was nominated by leaders of the Chambers Island Nature Preserve Committee and the Chambers Island Association, with support from staff at the Door County Land Trust.
