Faulty Brakes Lead to One Car Crash on Bridge

The driver of a vehicle involved in a crash on the Michigan Street Bridge in Sturgeon Bay Thursday evening escaped injury, but it could have been worse. Sturgeon Bay Police were dispatched to a one-vehicle accident on the downtown bridge shortly after 6:30PM. They learned that the vehicle was eastbound on the bridge when its brakes apparently failed as the bridge-tender started to open the span. The driver avoided hitting other vehicles and collided with the bridge’s drop down stop arms. The vehicle came to a stop after striking the guardrail. The police report noted that traffic was crossing the Michigan Street Bridge once the accident was cleaned up.
