On July 13, Bill Salnik and his two children, 5 year-old Charlotte, and 3 year-old Joshua, reportedly launched from the Suamico/Oconto area and never made it to their destination. They were reported missing the next day and last seen near Egg Harbor and Green Island.
On July 15, the Coast Guard reported that their blue 18-foot sailboat named “My Lady Blue” was located just south of Chambers Island. Later on July 15th, the bodies of Charlotte and Joshua were recovered about a mile south of where the boat was found. According to the release, the children were found together & both were wearing flotation devices.
Now, after 6 weeks, the Marinette County Sheriff’s office reported that at 12:06pm on Saturday, they received a call from a boater reporting they had located a body near Green Island. The body was recovered and later identified as Billy Salnik. The incident remains under investigation.
