Equipment Failure Causes Northern Door Power Outage Thursday

More than 3,600 northern Door County customers of Wisconsin Public Service Corporation experienced the loss of electrical service Thursday morning. At about 11AM, the utility was alerted to the outage and sent a crew to affect repairs. The largest number of WPS customers, more than 2,200, were located in the Sister Bay area. In addition, some 920 folks at or near Ephraim lost power, another 222 customers in Fish Creek, and 150 in Ellison Bay had a similar experience. A WPS spokesman said, after identifying the affected power lines, the repair crew routed service around the area and restored electrical service to all but 600 customers. They were back on line at 12:55PM. It appears that some sort of equipment failure caused the power outage that impacted a large swath of northern Door County.
