The Door County Community Foundation has honored Annie and Dick Egan as its 2016 “Philanthropists of the Year.” Brown County natives, the Egans have been coming to Door County during the summer since the 1950’s. They have been full-time residents since 1995. The couple have sat on a dozen non-profit boards including Help of Door County, The Peninsula School of Art, The Door County YMCA, and The Peninsula Music Festival. Dick is currently the board secretary of the Door County Community Foundation and was chairman of its board of directors for eight years. In keeping with her love of the arts, Annie Egan is co-curator of the Door County Community Foundation’s lobby gallery and is a member of the Women’s Fund of Door County’s “Artrageous” committee. In handing out its “Philanthropists of the Year” award, the Community Foundation noted that the Egans’ commitment to the community has been influenced by their recognition of the generosity and dedication of others to contribute to a better way of life in Door County.
