Effort to Raise $750,000 for Eagle Tower Rebuild Under Way

The Eagle Tower at Peninsula State Park is down and now the effort to raise the funds needed to replace the 80-foot observation deck begins to pick up the pace. The Eagle Tower Fund Committee, working on behalf of the “Friends of Peninsula State Park,” has embarked on an ambitious campaign to raise $750,000 to bring the tower back to the way it was before the Department of Natural Resources closed it down, indicating its was structurally unsafe. Rachel Stollenwerk is campaign director. She says the early stages of the effort have focused on providing awareness about the tower during a time when the county is busy. Stollenwerk says many people have already donated to the cause…

Stollenwerk says the committee is working toward raising $50,000 by October 15th…

Once that milestone is reached, the group will continue working on long range planning…
