Draft Plan for Upgrading Fairgrounds Reaches Committee

A draft plan for upgrading John Miles County Park in Sturgeon Bay has been presented to the county’s Airport and Parks Committee. The analysis of the park off 14th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay, which is home to the fairgrounds, its buildings and grandstand, the race track and recreational areas, is the outgrowth of an information gathering effort by County Planner Rebecca Kerwin. As part of the process, Kerwin held several listening sessions offering tours and seeking input. The plan not only looks at the park as it is constituted today, but also considers how it can be developed for future uses. It’s anticipated that the Door County Board will consider the draft report at its December meeting.
