The Wisconsin Department of Transportation recently closed a portion of Highway 42, just south of Algoma, and the closure is expected to continue through the end of this week. The stretch of roadway includes the bridge over Three Mile Creek, between 9th & 10th Roads, which was part of major construction over the summer. You may have heard rumors concerning that bridge and its status. The dot says the issue they are repairing is uneven approaches, and that there are no problems with the bridge. They were able to remove the approach portions of the roadway, and are moving forward in the replacement of the pavement. It is anticipated that the closure will be short and that stretch of the highway will be back open to full traffic soon.
